Be Sunsmart!

This term is summer! Everyone needs to slip into a t-shirt to protect your skin, slop on some suncream to stop the sun from hurting your skin, and... SLAP ON A HAT! It's really important you stay safe in the sun, you never know if something could happen to you. e.g skin cancer. So always remember to slip, slop, slap! It's easy!

Book Club Reflection

My Book Club novel is:  LOST

Backward-Looking:
How much did you know about Book Club before we started?
Before we started book club, I only knew 1 thing about book club. All I knew was that you had to get into a group and read books. I was very keen to find out more about book club, because I love reading.

Inward-Looking:
What were your goals for Reading and Book Club? Have your goals changed?
Are you on track to meet your goals?
My goal for reading was to  read a big amount of pages in just a minimum amount of time. I think I am on track to meeting my goal because I have read  more pages than I thought I would have been able to read. Now, I only need to read 3 more chapters.

Outward-Looking:
If you were the teacher, what comments would you make about your
learning so far?
If I were the teacher, I would say that I’m going great with my learning so far in reading(book club). I have been completing tasks for my role,  and have also self accessed my work and made sure it was at a year 6 standard.

Forward-Looking:
As you look at your work so far, what's one thing that you would like to try to
improve upon?
The next time I do book club, I’m going to try to improve on talking with my friends and keeping up with them. At the moment I’m only worrying about myself and what I have to do,  but not helping my friends with the things they have to do. I’m going to try and collaborate with them so they can be on track to finishing the book.

Xtra-Math Certificate

This is my Xtra-math Certificate! If you dont know what xtra-math is, it's a math website that helps you a lot with your basic facts, and also has challenges for you to test how much you know. Xtra-math has helped me a lot with my basic facts. This is my certificate I got for finishing my division basic facts! This means I have finished xtra-math because I got all my answers correct in my test. If you were wondering how I got all of them right, all I had to do is practice my division facts I didn't know, and then when it came to the test, I got them all correct. I'm really proud of myself for finishing xtra-math.

My Genius Hour Reflection

As we near the end of the term, reflect on the progress so far with your
Genius Hour Project.

My Genius Hour project is: Greek gods/Goddesses

Backward-Looking:
How much did you know about the subject before we started?
Before we started genius hour, I didn’t know anything about Greek gods and history. I only knew about Greek gods when my friends were talking about it, I seemed really interested when they were talking about it. That’s why I decided to do an I wonder question about Greek gods, I had a lot of wonders about Greek gods in my head. But I chose one question, that really made me think… What is a Greek god?

Inward-Looking:
What were your goals for meeting this piece of work? Have your goals changed as
you worked on it? Are you on track to meet your goals?
My goals are to get some interesting facts about Greek gods, not only interesting, but facts that will blow people’s minds off. With those AMAZING facts, I will put them into my own words and put them into my presentation. I’m not quite up to that yet, so now I’m going to have to do some extra research at home and before school to make sure that I am on track, and nearly to that point where my work is almost done.

Outward-Looking:
If you were the teacher, what comments would you make about your work so far?
I would say that my work is going great! I have started to find some really interesting facts, I have been updating my genius hour journal, and I have also done a lot of research. I think I am ready to start my presentation. But first I would have to check if all my information is in my words so that people would be able to understand it. After I do that, I will be able to start my presentation, and share all the things I have learnt so far about greek gods.

Forward-Looking:
As you look at your work so far, what's one thing that you would like to try to improve
upon?
I think I should try improving on talking more with my group and also collaborating with them. I think I’m focusing too much on my part of the project, and not actually helping others in my group.  From now on, I’m going to do as much as possible to talk with my group, and also meet up with them to talk about how they are doing.

Equivalent Fractions

This week in class, I have been learning how to solve equivalent fractions. I did this pixiclip to share how I solve equivalent fractions. If you are doing the problem right, you would start to see a pattern with your fractions.<< I just noticed that today! ^.^ Hope you all enjoy my pixiclip, and I hope you all have learnt something new about equivalent fractions too! ^.^
